Jinja Fair Trade

The idea for Jinja Fair Trade came about when Stacey Ferguson was a volunteer on a trip to Jinja, Uganda.  While on this volunteer mission, she met a woman who made recycled paper jewelry.  Stacey learned of the craftsmen and women in Uganda who make jewelry in order to earn money to buy food and medicine for their families.  After meeting these people she knew she wanted to be a part of this undertaking and help them sell their jewelry.  Eventually….., Stacey began a fair trade business in order to further this cause, working with women and families in Peru, India and Kenya as well as Uganda.

Many may not know that fair trade means, each product sold through this cause comes from artisans that have built a strong relationship with business owners like Stacey.  By building these relationships, the business owners are supporting the artisans’ efforts for a sustainable income.  Each product purchased contributes to aiding the empowerment of women and families who are struggling to overcome severe poverty.

Come by The Cotton Company today to see these stunning handcrafted items and do what you can to contribute to this wonderful cause!  We are all working to support the ones we love, help those less fortunate than yourself and bring home something beautiful to enjoy.
